Tenzin Hotel is the most popular budget hotel among tourists home and abroad. It is conveniently located in the middle of town in Shigatse, and about 20 minutes walk to the bus station. Tenzin Hotel, also named Dan Zeng Hotel, is a friendly and busy hotel, providing some of the best dorm beds and standard double rooms, some with attached bathrooms and great views of the Tashilhunpo Monastery. Rooms are nicely decorated with Tibetan fuinishings and the bathrooms are very clean. Hot water is supplied 24 hours a day, but is not that reliable.

The dorms are very popular with backpackers, some have to share the bathroom and showers with others. The Tenzin Restaurant on the ground floor is one of the better restaurants in town, providing a wide range of food and delicious Sichuan cuisine. There is a pleasant veranda here too, an excellent place to rest with a cold beer and to bask in the sun.
