Mt.Everest

Mt. Everest, with a altitude of 8,844.43 meters high, is the highest mountain in the world. It is the mountain peak in the Himalayas of southern Asia, and located at the border between China and Nepal. Its North Slope belongs to China and South belongs to Nepal. Most Nepali people refer to the Mt. Everest as Sagarmatha, meaning "Forehead in the Sky" while the Tibetan including the Sherpa people of northern Nepal, consider it as Chomolungma means "Goddess Mother of the World". The mountain is rising a few millimeters each year due to geological forces. Global Positioning System (GPS) has been installed on Mount Everest to detect the slight rates of the geological uplift. As the supreme point of the world, Mt. Everest itself is blessed with many extreme wonders.

The top part of the mountain is covered with snow all the year round. When the glaring sun shines on the mountain, the peak is just like a white pyramid miraculously transformed by the Goddess. Occasionally, the thick freely moving clouds and fogs, seeming as if a flag with the mast. This peculiar phenomenon of Mt. Everest is known as 'Flag Cloud'. An additional wonder emerged here are the bright glaciers, where ices are formed into various shapes like bridges, pagodas and so on.
